Desert Insight Meditation Sitting Group
May 1–29, Wednesday evenings, 6:30–8:00 PM — “Compassion and Equanimity”
You are invited to join a sitting group with other like–minded people in the Insight Meditation tradition. We will come together weekly to meditate, share Dharma talks, have group discussions, and practice mindful inquiry. This group is open to beginner meditators, intermediate students, or those who have practiced for a long time. All are welcome to participate as often as you wish and feel free to drop in. The topic of each week’s group will vary and will always be related to Buddhist teachings.
Spiritual friendship is one of the great gifts of being in a spiritual study group, also known as community or sangha. Our group is the Desert Insight Meditation Community. In joining and participating, we begin from the place of holding spiritual friendships in the forefront of our practice together. We accept all members equally, respecting our diversity, ethnicity, race, gender, and religion, and meet others where they are, without judgment, to honor their process, listen mindfully, and speak from a mindful place without harm and with loving kindness. We come to know that we can be safe, supported in our practice, and engender trust in others.
TCMC Fee: $5–7 per class, plus a Dana donation ($10, suggested) to the teacher. These 2,600-year-old teachings of the Buddha are supported by Dana, a Pali word meaning Generosity. You are invited to give generously, what you can, to support Lhasha in continuing her dharma teaching. No one is ever turned away for inability to pay. Volunteer options are available.
